Flathead County Earns Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
Flathead County, Montana — March 13, 2025 — Flathead County is proud to announce that it has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2024 budget from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 17th consecutive year.
This prestigious recognition reflects the county's commitment to excellence in budgeting and adherence to the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability. To earn this award, Flathead County's budget met nationally recognized guidelines that assess how effectively it serves as:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications tool
To receive the award, budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories and meet 14 mandatory criteria.
With more than 1,700 participants in the GFOA's Budget Awards Program, this achievement places Flathead County among the leading government entities in North America dedicated to advancing the quality of budgeting.
