Warning: phone scams about warrants and jury duty
Some residents have received calls from people claiming to be a law enforcement officer or judge. The caller says you missed jury duty or have a warrant, and that an officer will arrest you unless you pay right away. They usually ask for payment by:
- Gift cards
- Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency
- Money wire transfers or any other method
This is a scam. The Flathead County Sheriff's Office, judges, and other law enforcement will never call to tell you that you have a warrant and demand payment. These callers can be very convincing. If you get a call like this, hang up.
Please tell your family, friends, and coworkers about this scam. Money sent to these criminals is rarely, if ever, recovered. If you have questions or are unsure about a call, contact the Flathead County Sheriff's Office at (406) 758-5585 or any local law enforcement agency.

Traffic Radar Trailer Opens in a new tab.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has a trailer-mounted radar speed display that can be placed throughout the county for monitoring traffic speeds. The location of the trailer is based on the previous history of motor vehicle accidents, frequency of speeding citations, and requests from the public.
Drivers approaching a speed radar trailer will see the posted speed limit displayed, as well as their speed as detected by the trailer. The trailer also records the total number of vehicles and their average speeds during the times it is monitoring traffic.
The speed radar trailer aids in educating the public — especially the driver who may be unaware of exactly how fast they are going. The use of our speed radar trailer strengthens our efforts to reduce speeding through education.
Please be aware that this service is for county roads and not privately maintained roads.
