Justin Krauss Celebrates 5 Years with Mountain Climber

This month we celebrate a special milestone for one of our Mountain Climber drivers, Justin Krauss, who has been serving Flathead County residents for the past five years.

Justin first came to the County looking for a job with purpose, something steady but also flexible enough to allow room for his full and driven life. Driving public transit wasn’t something he originally imagined for himself, but it quickly became a career that brought him both fulfillment and connection. “I like being able to help people get where they need to go—appointments, shopping, school, work. You start to realize you’re more than a driver. For some riders, you’re part of their daily routine, and that means something,” he shared.

When asked about his favorite part of the job, Justin didn’t hesitate. “The people. You get to know them. It feels good knowing I’m part of the system that makes their lives work.” And if there’s anyone who understands balancing work with a full life, it’s Justin. He’s been running a successful side business DJ-ing weddings since high school, often booking out six months of the year. He even built his own home. With eclectic interests and an entrepreneurial spirit, he found a role at Mountain Climber that not only values his dedication on the job but also gives him the space to grow outside of it.

Justin was born and raised in the Flathead, and his deep roots keep him close to his family, who all live here as well. He reflected on how meaningful it has been to find his place in County government after having previously worked in city government. “It’s so different here, so much more accepting. I’ll never go back to city work,” he said lightheartedly.

Above all, Justin takes his responsibility behind the wheel to heart. “Everybody’s destinations are important to me. I know my riders and what time they each need to be at work. No one is going to be late on my watch.”

For the past five years, Justin has carried that commitment mile after mile. Flathead County is proud to honor his service and grateful to have him on the Mountain Climber team.
