Dear Members of the Montana Board of Crime Control,
Flathead County Commissioners Support the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force
The Flathead County Board of Commissioners is pleased to express its strong support for the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force and its continued funding.
Since 1984, the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force has played a critical role in enforcing drug laws, educating the public, and supporting law enforcement efforts throughout Northwest Montana. Over the years, the Task Force has earned a well-deserved reputation as an effective and important deterrent to the use, distribution, and manufacture of illegal drugs in our communities.
The impact of illegal drug activity extends far beyond drug offenses alone. It contributes to thefts, burglaries, domestic violence, and other crimes that place a significant burden on our citizens, neighborhoods, businesses, and local law enforcement agencies.
The Northwest Montana Drug Task Force has consistently demonstrated its ability to work effectively with state, local, and federal partners to investigate and prosecute major drug trafficking organizations operating in Northwest Montana. That interagency cooperation is essential to addressing criminal activity that often crosses jurisdictional boundaries.
In addition to enforcement, the Task Force members have provided training and outreach to civic groups, schools, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS personnel, and other community partners. These efforts have included education on methamphetamine labs, the hazards they present, and current drug trends affecting our region.
For these reasons, the Flathead County Board of Commissioners fully supports the Northwest Montana Drug Task Force and any funding necessary to continue the operation of this productive and important public safety partnership.
