Balancing complex revenues, navigating ever-changing legislative mandates, and overseeing multi-million-dollar budgets is demanding work. Amy handles it all with exacting precision, calm resolve, and unmatched institutional vision.
Amy’s journey in finance began long before she arrived in northwest Montana. Growing up in Oregon, she discovered an early affinity for numbers while helping her mother balance the family checkbook. A high school banking internship at age 16 cemented that curiosity into a career, teaching her early lessons in financial stewardship. After earning an accounting degree and serving in AmeriCorps in the Flathead Valley, she cut her teeth auditing government entities across the region. That auditing background gave her an eye for nuance, process improvement, and accountability that has benefited our county government every day since.
Starting with Flathead County as a staff accountant, Amy stepped up to lead the department in late 2016, quickly distinguishing herself as one of the youngest and most capable department heads in county history. Her philosophy as a leader has never been about micromanagement; instead, she focuses on empowering her team. By fostering independence, personal growth, and cross-departmental collaboration, she has built a finance department that is agile, resilient, and deeply trusted by commissioners, department leaders, and taxpayers alike.
