NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING: TEXT AMENDMENT
TO FLATHEAD COUNTY SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS
The Board of Commissioners of Flathead County, Montana hereby gives notice, pursuant to Section 76-3-503, M.C.A., that it will hold a public hearing to consider a request from the Flathead County Planning Board to amend the text of the Flathead County Subdivision Regulations. The proposed text amendments include renumbering the document in its entirety—for example, Sections 4.0 and 4.1 would become Chapters 1 and 2, respectively, with similar renumbering applied throughout the document—and updating internal references accordingly. The proposed amendments also include changes to fire protection standards, Wildland Urban Interface requirements, roadway standards, and the removal of regulations related to recreational vehicle and mobile home subdivisions. The amendment would remove Section 4.5 Subdivisions Providing Multiple Spaces for Recreational Camping Vehicles or Mobile Homes and amend the following sections:

The Flathead County Subdivision Regulations apply to all areas of Flathead County and are on file for public inspection at the Office of the Board of Commissioners, 800 South Main, Room 302, Kalispell, Montana, the Flathead County Planning and Zoning Office, 40 11th Street West, Kalispell, Montana, and on the Flathead County Planning and Zoning Office website at: https://flatheadcounty.gov/department-directory/planning-zoning/draft-documents. Documents related to the proposed amendments to the regulations are on file for public inspection at the Office of the Board of Commissioners and at the Flathead County Planning and Zoning Office.
The public hearing will be held on the 30th day of September, 2025 at 9:45 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers, Third Floor, Old Courthouse, Kalispell, Montana. At the public hearing, the Board of Commissioners will give the public an opportunity to be heard regarding the proposed changes to the text of the Flathead County Subdivision Regulations.
Written comments are encouraged and will be reviewed by the Commissioners prior to the hearing if received by the Flathead County Commissioners’ Office prior to the hearing.
