Shoutout to Travis Glidewell for hitting a 5-year milestone with the Flathead County Road & Bridge Department!

Celebrating Five Years of Service: Travis Glidewell and Flathead County Road & Bridge

When you drive the roads of Flathead County, you may not always think about the people who make sure those roads are safe, maintained, and ready for whatever Montana weather throws our way. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team is hard at work every day, and a cornerstone of that effort is Travis Glidewell, who recently marked five years as Operations Manager for the Flathead County Road and Bridge Department.

Travis’s journey to this role is rooted in public service. Originally from Lewistown, Montana, he spent years working in a similar field out of state before finding his way back home. When his children graduated, he and his wife set their sights on returning to Montana, and when a position became available here at Road and Bridge, he jumped at the chance.

In his five years here, Travis has shaped a team culture built on shared values and genuine camaraderie. “So many of us at Road and Bridge are like-minded,” he explains. “We pursue outdoor recreation, we love this area, and our job allows us to take that natural appreciation and apply it to our everyday work.” That culture translates into more than just strong working relationships—it builds resilience, accountability, and pride in serving the public.

What Travis enjoys most is watching his crew grow. “They’re always driven to be better,” he says. “It’s a perk to watch them come up with strategies, improve their skills, and bring me into that process. It’s gratifying and rewarding.” This commitment to growth reflects a deep respect for both the work and the people doing it. The Road and Bridge team knows their efforts are about more than asphalt and gravel—they are about providing safe, reliable infrastructure that impacts every resident of Flathead County.

Looking ahead, Travis says he’s right where he wants to be. “I love my job. I plan on sticking around.” That dedication is good news for our community. With leaders like Travis, who pair technical expertise with a servant’s heart, Flathead County is in steady hands.

As we celebrate this five-year milestone, we also celebrate the values Travis embodies: hard work, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Flathead County. Here’s to many more years of service, both on the roads we travel and in the community we all call home.
