Re: Connecting Community Systems of Support for Youth at Risk of Justice Involvement
Dear Title II Grant Review Committee,
Flathead County Commissioners Recommend Center for Restorative Youth Justice for Title II Funding
The Flathead County Board of Commissioners is pleased to offer this letter of recommendation for Center for Restorative Youth Justice (CRYJ) and their request for MBCC's Title II funding in 2026-27.
CRYJ's unique efforts to provide avenues for youth to take accountability, make amends when harm is caused, and grow in their ability to positively contribute to society have yielded a profound reduction in recidivism and County cost for detention, shelter care, and other out-of-community alternatives for juveniles. Additionally, their strong and enduring collaboration with local agencies has become a flagship example of Youth Court and School District systems enhancement, garnering statewide and national recognition for its innovation and efficacy.
We are proud of the resources Flathead County provides for youth and families, yet gaps remain in reaching many individuals in need of services and support. CRYJ engages those who often face geographical, economic and social challenges that impede school and workforce success, offering critical structures and guidance to improve their outcomes as they transition into adulthood. We are proud to offer our partnership in improving public safety and community health and strongly encourage the Montana Board of Crime Control to secure CRYJ's Title II funding for 2026-27.
Sincerely,
Board of Commissioners
