4-H Youth Programs
Flathead County 4-H provides hands-on learning opportunities for youth through clubs, projects, community activities, and leadership experiences. Families can contact the Extension Office for help finding a club and choosing projects that match their interests and schedule.
How Does My Child Join 4-H?
New enrollments are accepted throughout the year. Families can review current enrollment instructions, project information, deadlines, and required forms through the Flathead County 4-H enrollment page.

What Is a Cloverbud?
Cloverbuds are youth ages 5 through 7. Their program is designed to be educational and non-competitive. Cloverbuds participate in age-appropriate activities, but do not participate in 4-H animal-related programs.
Does My Child Need to Own an Animal?
No. 4-H offers many non-animal project opportunities, including photography, cooking, gardening, science, outdoor activities, wildlife, and other hands-on learning topics.
Can Adults Volunteer With 4-H?
Yes. Parents, guardians, and other community members are encouraged to support youth through volunteer opportunities at the club or county level. Contact the Extension Office for current volunteer requirements and opportunities.
Is Participation in the Northwest Montana Fair Required?
No. Participation in the Northwest Montana Fair is optional for 4-H members and Cloverbuds. Families interested in exhibiting projects should contact Extension or review current 4-H information for deadlines and participation requirements.
Master Gardener Education
Montana Master Gardener education helps residents build practical gardening knowledge through research-based instruction and resources.
Contact the Flathead County Extension Office to ask about upcoming Master Gardener opportunities, course availability, schedules, or educational materials. Program timing and fees may vary.

Private Pesticide Applicator Training
Private applicator certification is intended for people who need to apply restricted-use pesticides on agricultural land they or their employer own, rent, or lease.
Flathead County Extension can help residents find information about study materials, testing appointments, training opportunities, certification, and recertification requirements.
Fees and certification requirements are established through Montana State University Extension and the Montana Department of Agriculture. Review the current official program information or contact Extension before beginning the process.

Weed Seed Free Forage Certification
Producers who need hay or straw certified as weed seed free should contact the Extension Office for current inspection and scheduling information.
Certification inspections must occur while the crop is still standing. Contact the office before cutting or harvesting the field so there is time to coordinate an inspection.
