How much was a property sold for?
The purchase price is not public information in the State of Montana because Montana is a "Non-Disclosure State".
What is a Plat?
A plan map, or chart of a piece of land.
How long does certificate of survey or plat review take?
The county has 20 working days to review a submittal. Submittals received between 8:00 a.m. Monday and 5:00 p.m. Friday are reviewed within 20 working days starting the following Monday. Holidays may extend this. If a review finishes early, the documents are placed in the outbox before the 20-day period ends.
What does it cost to have a survey or plat reviewed?
An Examining Land Surveyor fee of $175 applies to each review, including each resubmittal. A separate county assessment fee also applies and depends on whether the survey or plat is exempt or non-exempt. Both fees are submitted together. Call the Plat Room at 406-758-5510 to confirm current fees for your submittal.
How do I change the ownership on my property?
A completed Deed must be approved by the Plat Room and recorded at the Clerk and Recorder's Office.
What department do I need to tell about a mailing address change for my tax bill?
The Plat Room updates and maintains the mailing addresses.
How do I access recorded certificates of survey or plats online?
Recorded survey and plat maps are available free in digital format through the Plat Room's Property Ownership & Data page. You can also view the scanned survey archive on this page under Downloadable Content.
