Property taxes are the primary way Flathead County citizens pay for local government services including schools, law enforcement, fire departments, and special district services. The Flathead County government collects these property taxes and distributes the money to these entities. Local governments and taxing jurisdictions are limited in the amount of property taxes they can collect.
In tax year 2024, 44.73 mills will be collected to support general County functions, with another 27.37 mills being collected to solely support Flathead County Sheriff operations.
One mill is one dollar per $1,000 dollars of assessed/taxable value on your property.
