About the Program:
Communicable diseases spread from person to person through direct contact, exposure to bodily fluids, or indirectly through vectors such as ticks or mosquitoes. The Communicable Disease (CD) Program partners with local healthcare providers to prevent, detect, and control the spread of these illnesses. Here is the list of reportable communicable diseases in the state of Montana.
When the health department receives a report of a confirmed case of a reportable disease, CD staff contact the individual involved. These conversations can help us identify the source of infection, determine who may be at higher risk, support appropriate treatment, and provide education about the disease. We appreciate the residents of Flathead County who work with us to help keep our community healthy.
