🚩 POTENTIAL SCAM ALERT 🚩
We have recently been made aware of potential scams targeting individuals and businesses in our community.
Scammers have been emailing fake invoices to try to elicit payment for services or products that Flathead County Planning and Zoning either does not charge for or services that were not performed. We will never send an invoice unless requested by the applicant. Emails from the Planning and Zoning office will only come from a Flathead County domain, never from a Gmail, Yahoo, or usa.com domain.
Red Flags to Watch for:
- Use of the County Seal, instead of the department logo.
- Requiring payment via a wire. Flathead County does not accept a wire as a form of payment. We only accept checks or Credit Cards.
- Charging for an Approval Fee. The Planning and Zoning office does not have any sort of Approval Fees. Please see here for the current fee schedule.

Our IT Department has recommended reporting scams to the Federal Trade Commission.

The Flathead County Planning & Zoning Office provides technical planning assistance to Flathead County. We are administered by the Board of County Commissioners. Our primary responsibilities include assisting in all facets of long-range Community and Neighborhood planning, Zoning Administration, and Subdivision Review. We also administer the Flathead County Lakeshore Protection Program and Flathead County Floodplain Program.
